Using PDFs on Digital Paper

Reading and interacting with PDFs on Digital Paper allows you to work naturally, whether reviewing presentations, contracts, or articles. With tools for annotation, navigation, and organization, you can optimize your workflow efficiently.

Opening and reading PDFs

When you open a PDF, the document appears full-screen, ready for reading. You can scroll through pages either by swiping vertically or horizontally to navigate page-by-page.

  • Page number indicator: The current page number is displayed at the bottom. Tap it to reveal the Navigation bar for quicker access.

Navigation bar

The Navigation bar provides multiple ways to move through your document:

  1. Scroll through pages using your finger or the Digital Pen.
  2. Tap on a page: Simply tap on your desired page to jump directly.
  3. Comments only filter: Tick the box to view only pages with added comments.


Page overview

Page Overview gives a thumbnail-based view of your entire document:

  • Access the Page overview from the toolbar or menu.
  • Thumbnails with comments are marked with a small icon.
  • Quickly navigate by tapping the desired page.
  • Select multiple pages by long-tapping; deselect by tapping anywhere on the screen or the x button.
  • Switch between Grid view and List view for preferred visibility.

Toolbar features in PDFs


The PDF toolbar provides essential tools for working efficiently:

  • Writing: Access different pen types and colors to annotate or write on PDFs.
  • Eraser: Remove handwritten notes using different eraser types (Eraser, Erase stroke, Erase all).
  • Selection tool: Highlight handwritten content to move, rotate, scale, copy, cut, or delete.
  • Undo/redo: Reverse or reapply recent actions.
  • Comments: Add collapsible comments to your PDF document for more elaborate notes. 
  • More options: Includes Search for text and annotations, Go to page, and Share features.

Additional tips

  • The PDF thumbnail on the home screen shows the first page of the document.
  • Writing and annotation tools operate similarly to notebooks and Quick Notes.
  • Use the toolbar collapse feature to maximize reading space.
  • Page overview and Navigation bar help maintain a structured reading experience for long documents.
