Updating your device

Keeping your Montblanc Digital Paper software up to date is essential for maintaining the best performance, accessing the latest features, and ensuring security and stability. Software updates often include bug fixes, feature improvements, and optimizations that enhance your overall experience.

How to update your Digital Paper

During onboarding, you will be presented with a step to update your device. We recommend updating it here as it ensures all the latest updates are installed before you begin your journey with Digital Paper. However, if you would like to update your device at a later point, you can do so from your Settings.

  1. Access Settings from the Control Center
  2. Navigate to General > About your Digital Paper and tap on it
  3. Tap on Software updates
  4. Select Check for updates

If an update is available, it will automatically download and install on your device. If no updates are needed, you will be informed via a dialog.

Viewing current software information

You can view the current software version of your device and the date of your last update. To view this, navigate to General > About your Digital Paper > Software updates. The information will be displayed under Software version.


Auto system updates

We recommend enabling auto system updates, indicated by the checkbox on the right. Selecting this option ensures that your device automatically receives the latest updates as soon as they are released, giving you immediate access to new features, improvements, and bug fixes without manual intervention.

Checking for updates

To manually check whether your device is running the latest software, select Check for updates:

  • Up-to-date: If your device is running the latest software, a confirmation dialog will notify you that your software is current and no further updates are needed.
  • Software update available: If a new software version is available, the download will start immediately after you request the update. To complete the installation, your device will need to restart.
  • No internet connection: Your device must be connected to the internet to search for and download updates.
Important: To install updates, your device must have a stable internet connection and a battery level above 30%. Software updates are crucial for proper device functioning, improved security, and optimal performance.

Keeping your Digital Paper updated offers several benefits:

  • New features: Access the latest tools, templates, and functionalities.
  • Improved stability: Updates often resolve bugs or issues that may affect performance.
  • Enhanced security: Protect your device and data from potential vulnerabilities.

  • Optimized performance: Updates can improve battery life, responsiveness, and overall efficiency.
