The Language and region settings allow you to adapt Montblanc Digital Paper to your personal context. Whether you want the menus displayed in your native language or need handwriting recognition to better reflect the language you write in most often, these options give you flexibility.
When you first set up your device, you already made an initial selection. From here, you can revisit these preferences within settings at any time.
Region
The region setting determines the formatting and general localization of your Digital Paper. You may want to update this if you are working abroad or moving between regions.
Here are the steps to change it:
- Open Region from the Language and Region menu.
- Scroll through the list of available countries, or use the search bar at the top to start typing the country name.
- Select your region from the list. Your choice is shown with an underline.
- Return to the Language and region overview to confirm.

Language
The language setting controls how menus, buttons, and interface text are displayed across your Digital Paper. This is especially helpful if you are sharing the device with others who prefer a different language, or if you simply feel more comfortable navigating in another one.
To update the language:
- Open Language.
- Choose one of the 10 supported options.
A pop-up will ask you to confirm your choice.
- Select Continue to apply the change.
- Select Cancel or x to stay with the current language.
- Once confirmed, the change takes effect immediately, and you are returned to the General menu.
Note: this affects only the interface text. Files and handwritten notes remain unchanged.
Handwriting recognition language
While the interface language decides how menus appear, the handwriting recognition language ensures your handwritten notes are accurately converted into text. This setting can be different from the system language, allowing flexibility if you write in one language but navigate in another.
To change it:
- Open Handwriting language.
- Select the language you write in most frequently.
- The active selection is shown with an underline.
- Tap ← to return to the overview once finished.
Tip: If the handwriting recognition language does not match the language of your writing, the conversion results may be inaccurate. You can change this setting as often as needed, especially if you work across multiple languages.
