Display

The Display settings on your Montblanc Digital Paper allow you to manage how your device conserves power and responds to inactivity. Adjusting these options ensures that your documents remain secure and your battery is preserved, while giving you the flexibility to tailor the device’s behavior to your usage habits.

To access these options, navigate to Settings → General → Display.

Auto sleep

The Sleep function controls how long your Digital Paper remains idle before switching to the sleep screen. This feature helps conserve battery and protects your device from unintended input while inactive.

You can choose from the following options:

  • 5 minutes: The device enters sleep mode shortly after inactivity, ideal for users who frequently step away from their device.
  • 20 minutes:  This is the default setting, balancing convenience with battery savings.
  • 2 hours: Suitable for longer work sessions when you don’t want the screen to sleep too quickly.
  • Never: Keeps the screen active indefinitely.  Please note that selecting Never means you must manually lock your device; otherwise, anyone can access your documents.

When your device enters sleep mode, a subtle screen overlay appears to indicate inactivity. Waking the device is simple—just tap the screen or press the top button on your Digital Pen.

Auto Power off

The Power off option controls the duration of continuous inactivity before the device automatically shuts down to conserve energy. This setting complements the Sleep function and is particularly useful for preserving battery life during extended periods of non-use.

Available options include:

  • 1 hour: The device powers off quickly after short inactivity.
  • 6 hours: Provides more flexibility during work sessions.
  • 12 hours: Ideal for long sessions without the need for frequent charging.
  • Never: The device will remain on indefinitely. Note: Prolonged periods without automatic power off may impact battery longevity.

Selecting a suitable Power-off interval helps extend your Digital Paper’s battery life and ensures the device is ready when you need it.

Returning to general settings

Once you’ve adjusted the display options to your preference, return to the General section by tapping ← next at the top of the screen. Your selections are saved automatically, so there’s no need to confirm changes.
