Your Digital Pen is your main tool for writing, sketching, and navigating your Digital Paper. This guide covers everything you need to know to get started: how to pair and charge the pen, and how different tips affect the writing feel.
Pairing & charging
To connect the Digital Pen to your device, place it on the left-hand side dock. This magnetic dock charges the pen and initiates the pairing process.
Connection type: The pen connects via both Bluetooth and NFC.
Automatic pairing: In most cases, Bluetooth pairing happens in the background while the pen charges.
Confirmation: Once fully connected, you'll see the pen’s battery percentage on screen.
If the battery is completely empty, a 30-second charge is usually enough to proceed. You can also retry pairing later via Settings > Pen and placing the pen on the charging dock. For detailed instructions on how to pair your Digital Pen, read the article Replacing your Pen.
Battery info
The Digital Pen is powered by a rechargeable internal battery.
Charging: Only charges on the left side of the device.
Rest mode: When placed on the right side, the pen snaps magnetically into a rest position but does not charge.
Sleep mode: After ~10 minutes of inactivity, the pen goes into sleep mode. Tap it on the screen or dock it to wake it.
Battery indicator: Visible when paired via Bluetooth.
Writing tips & feel
The pen comes with three interchangeable tips to match your preferred writing experience. All tips are easily swappable and designed for realistic tactile feedback.

Linen tip: Creates slightly more friction — ideal if you prefer a paper-like resistance while writing.
Matte tip: Balanced for everyday writing and sketching.
Smooth tip: Glides more smoothly — useful for fast note-taking or lighter hand pressure.
The tips can be exchanged with a simple pull-off / push-on motion. Please ensure you regularly replace the Digital Pen tip to avoid scratching the screen of your Digital Paper.
Note: You can try each one to find your favorite. The tip affects both the writing feel and how the line appears on screen.
Troubleshooting
If the pen doesn’t connect or charge:
Make sure it’s placed on the left side dock.
Check that the battery isn’t fully drained (try leaving it to charge for a minute).
Go to Settings > Pen > Pair Pen to manually connect.
You’ll always be notified on screen if pairing fails — and you can retry anytime.
