Montblanc Cloud allows you to sync, store, and access your most recent files across your Digital Paper, Companion App, and Web App. It ensures your documents stay up to date while providing you with a secure storage place.
Adding files using Montblanc Cloud
When your Digital Paper is connected to a Montblanc Cloud account, you can add files in two ways:
- Upload files using the Companion App or Web App.
- Share a file via email (Send to Paper).
Note: There is a 100 MB upload limit for each file, and all files are checked for viruses before being delivered to your Digital Paper.
File types supported
Only the following formats are supported for upload to Digital Paper:
Notes about file export:
- Notebooks are always exported in PDF format.
- eBooks cannot be exported in PDF format and are always shared in ePub format.
Syncing icons and their meaning
On your device, syncing is represented with cloud icons next to files:
Cloud outline: file is not present on the cloud or is waiting to sync.
Cloud with progress indicator: file is currently syncing.
Cloud with check mark: file has been successfully synced.
Cloud with exclamation mark: syncing issue. Check internet and cloud account connection.
Note: Files sent to your device may take up to 5 minutes to appear after syncing.
Companion App and Web App
To manage files beyond your device:
- Companion App: Download the Montblanc Digital Paper app from the Google Play or Apple App Store.
- Web App: Visit paper.montblanc.com from any browser.
Steps:
- Open the Companion or Web App.
- Sign in with your Montblanc Cloud credentials.
- Tap the upload button and select files on your device.
- Supported files (PDFs and ePubs) will sync to your Digital Paper.

Which files are added to the cloud
After pairing your Digital Paper with Montblanc Cloud:
- Files automatically sync when you have an internet connection, until your cloud storage capacity is reached.
- Notebooks and PDFs are updated to the cloud whenever you edit them.
- If storage is full, the most recently opened and edited files remain on the cloud, while older files are removed. These older files still remain stored locally on your Digital Paper.
- Files imported via USB do not sync unless opened and edited on the device.
Storage details
When you sign up for the cloud, you get a cloud storage of 1 GB. You can view storage usage in the settings of your Digital Paper or in the Companion App.
Important behavior:
- Deleting a file on your Digital Paper also deletes it from the cloud.
- You cannot directly delete files from the cloud. To manage cloud storage, delete them on the device.
