Adding a passcode to your device
Protecting your Montblanc Digital Paper with a passcode is crucial for ensuring your privacy and security. It prevents unauthorized access, safeguarding your documents and notebooks. In case of loss or theft, a passcode adds an extra layer of protection, making it harder for others to access your information.
During onboarding, you had the opportunity to set up a passcode. You can change, set up, or turn off the passcode anytime by navigating to Settings → Security.
Unlock by passcode
Enabling a passcode allows you to lock your device and restrict access.
To set up a passcode:
- Tap the box next to Unlock by passcode.
- A pop-up appears asking you to enter a four-digit code of your choice. Use the keypad to enter your code.
- Tap CONTINUE to proceed or CANCEL / x to return to settings.
- Confirm your passcode by entering it a second time, then tap DONE.
Your passcode is now active. The next time you lock your Digital Paper, you will need this passcode to unlock it.
Change passcode
You can update your passcode whenever needed.
Steps to change your passcode:
- Tap Change passcode under the Security menu.
- Enter your current passcode and select CONTINUE.
- Enter a new four-digit passcode twice and tap DONE.
Your new passcode is now active.
Disable Unlock by passcode
You can turn off passcode protection if desired.
Steps to disable:
- Untick the box next to Unlock by passcode.
- Enter your current passcode to confirm and tap CONTINUE.
The device will no longer require a passcode to unlock, and your files will be accessible without restrictions.
Important warning: Forgot passcode
It is extremely important to remember your passcode. If you forget it, your Montblanc Digital Paper cannot be accessed.
In such a case, your device becomes fully inaccessible. The only option is a factory reset at a Montblanc boutique, which will erase all data not saved to the Montblanc Cloud.
Always ensure your passcode is stored securely and memorable only to you.
